Small Business Saturday – Riley’s Rainbow Slime

Happy Small Business Saturday!! Today we wanted to share a unique small business that would really make any Mom proud. Riley is a young entrepreneur and through an idea and a passion she created Riley’s Rainbow Slime. She’s been making and selling slime for a few years now and sees no end in sight! If your child is begging for SLIME this Christmas, be sure to check out Riley’s Rainbow Slime to see what it’s all about! Read our full interview with her below!

Tell me a little about yourself. How old are you and what grade are you in and what’s your favorite subject in school?

My name is Riley and I am 14 years old. I am in the ninth grade and my favorite subject is Drama because I love acting. I am currently saving my slime earnings for an upcoming theater trip to New York City!

How long have you lived in the Puyallup Area and what is your favorite thing about our community?

I have lived in Puyallup my whole life, and my favorite part of the community are the good schools in our district.

Tell me a little about your business and your inspiration behind starting it?

I started my business by making slime with my little brother for fun, and my stepdad made a comment about selling it. My grandparents were running a bazaar in Ocean Shores so I spent the weekend with them and decided to try and sell a couple jars of slime. I completely sold out, and that’s when I realized that this could actually develop into something bigger!

What makes your business unique?

I sell colorful fluffy slime, which isn’t as sticky as regular slime. The thing that really sets me apart, though, is that my slime is scented. I have over 50 different scents, and lots of unique creations!

Favorite thing about owning your own business?

Seeing little kids getting so excited about slime, and I love to see their reactions when they come up to my booth.  I also really like working with children as a Birthday Party Hostess (I offer two different slime party packages) and during scouting slime workshops.

Anything else you’d like to share about you and/or your business?

I have had my business for over two years now (Labor Day Weekend 2017), and I am still very much a part of it today. My business has grown into something my 12 year-old-self would’ve never imagined, and that’s what makes me feel like I’ve accomplished something really amazing. I love kids, which definitely makes this worthwhile, and I love doing this for my customers and for myself.

Where can people purchase your product?

I have a Facebook page and an email where you can contact me: (facebook.com/rileysrainbowslime and [email protected]),  and I also attend vendor bazaars, which I share on my Facebook.
